Megatherm deals in Metal Heating & Melting Equipment and possesses the strength to meet Thermal Challenges through Induction.

Tube Welder

High-frequency induction welding is used widely by the tube-producing industry. The process requires a high-frequency current to be induced in the open seam tube by an induction coil located ahead of the weld point. Tube edges are spaced apart when they move through the coil, forming an open V, which will have the apex slightly ahead of the weld point. The coil connected to the high-frequency power supply through a transformer has no contact with the pipes. The open seam acts as a single-turn secondary thus inducing a high current that flows through the edges. High-frequency current density is highest at the edges, of the open V and the apex itself. The tube is heated rapidly raising the edges to the welding temperature when they meet at the apex. Pressure rolls force the heated edges together completing the weld.

This is s continuous online process where the tube mill with a set of water-cooled rollers.

Megatherm solid-state high-frequency welders developed for the market is a highly reliable machine. With its current fed inverter design our welder is capable of welding carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and copper tubes. Excellent power control and regulation allow perfect matching with mill speed.

Available in 100-400kw range with a frequency range between 150-450kHz.

The other salient features.

  • DC Ripple less than 0.5%. harmonic distortion from the rectifier is minimal. No interference with any mill electronic equipment.
  • Accurate control of weld power in relation to mill speed thus reducing scraps. Stabilized welding frequency to the set point.
